Golden Tulip Hotel, Arnhem,
The Netherlands | The Composite Bridge Alliance Europe is the major contributor to the Light Weight Bridge Decks Conference organized by Brisk Events of the Netherlands on June 18-20 in Arnhem the Netherlands.
Subjects to be discussed are the latest developments in the design and construction of bridge decks in high strength steel and high performance concrete, aluminium, polymer composites and other hybrid materials.
Part of the conference will take place on a cruise boat sailing on the River Rhine from Arnhem the Netherlands to Wesel in Germany. Here a visit will be paid to the new Rhine suspension bridge, currently under construction, with a 120 meters high concrete inverted Y tower and a light weight steel bridge deck.
During the sailing there will be a unique opportunity for commercial contacts by means of a Matchmaking Session for companies supplying technology, systems and components for bridge building.
| Brisk Events [website] | | 10-07-2008 | Fifth International Conference on Composites in Fire | 10th-11th July 2008.
University of Newcastle,
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. | The Composites in Fire conferences exist to transfer understanding, technology and research results from major programmes from three continents, Europe, USA and Australia, to industry. Since CIF-4, which was held in 2005, substantial progress has taken place in testing and modelling the problem of the fire resistance of composite structures. It is the purpose of CIF-5 to report this progress and transfer the technologies and techniques developed to industry.
The fire response of composites is a critical factor in virtually all engineering applications of these materials. In addition to papers from other sources, state-of-the-art papers will be presented from two important international research collaborations: the US Office of Naval Research programme on the Fire Resistance of Naval Composite Structures and the EU MOMENTUM Marie Curie Research Training Network

Judging from the previous two it will be a show well worth a visit and well worth exhibitng at. This year the show is alongside the Aluminium Exhibition and the compsoites industry should take the opportunity to show the 'metal heads' how much better they would be off using the 'right' materials!
